:: FRED AHLGREN ::

Born: January 28^th 1982 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Twenty-two years old during the main part of the story.
Ethnicity: Swedish/Italian
Appearance: Dark brown hair; brown eyes; very tall, muscular, sturdy. The very image of his father.
Personality: Slow thinker; genuinely good-hearted; doesn’t always think before speaking or acting; regretful whenever he’s done something wrong; constantly confused; tries to be responsible when it comes to other people’s feelings – even if it goes against his own happiness and what he wants for himself.
- Was abused physically and verbally by his father during childhood; neglected by his mother (they were only seventeen when they had him). Didn't know how it felt to be loved before he met his wife. Always tries to find some substitute for the love he so desperately longs for.
Destructive behavior: Makes rash and thoughtless decisions when he’s frustrated. Bad tempered; blows up over nothing after his wife dies. Developed a drinking problem as a consequence for her passing away and leaving him for a life he considers not worth living.
Background: Had a rough childhood, which led to him leaving home by the age of fourteen.
- Was diagnosed with ADD during high school. Made up for it by being the star athlete and was/is very good with most sports. Played hockey on the school’s team.
- Comes from a wealthy family. His father is the founder of Miller Corporation, a successful worldwide business concern where Fred ended up working after high school.
Friends: Kate McKinley; who he’s known since the end of freshman year in high school after transferring to a new private school. Daniel DeRienzo; got to know him senior year in high school after taking his side during a fight. Got along with most people during high school.

:: KATE MCKINLEY ::

Born: April 9^th 1982 in Sherman Oaks, California. Also twenty-two years old.
Ethnicity: British/Irish
Appearance: Bright red curly hair; green eyes; medium height; fit body.
Personality: Bubbly, perky, happy-go-lucky; strong-minded; opinionated; funny; witty; friendly. Was popular in high school; was prom queen and head cheerleader. Despite her outspoken manner she can also be a bit insecure about what other people thinks of her.
Destructive behavior: Doesn’t like to get too attached to people out of fear of betrayal; doesn’t really trust anybody other than Fred and Daniel. She has a hard time committing herself to projects or relationships.
Background: Grew up in a wealthy family; her mother used to be a well-known actress in a famous daytime drama and now works as a producer for various TV shows. Her father is a successful lawyer. She’s an only child.
Friends: Considers Fred as her best friend. Has more of a love/hate friendship with Daniel. Has plenty of friends aside from them, but nobody she’d consider her ‘real’ friends.

:: DANIEL DERIENZO ::

Born: November 14^th 1981 in Milan, Italy. Twenty-three years old.
Ethnicity: Italian
Appearance: Dark brown hair; brown eyes; tall, lanky.
Personality: Speaks his mind; a bit unreliable and flaky; has trouble taking orders from authorities; makes unachievable plans; rather takes the long way around things; has radical ideas and solutions. Never does what people expect from him.
Destructive behavior: His inability to take orders often results in him doing the opposite of what he’s supposed to, even if it’s only to be rebellious; tries so hard not to fit in a certain stereotype that he loses himself in the process. Knows he’s destined for something but can’t for his life figure out what it is.
Background: His mother was a famous designer in Italy and had her own company. They moved to USA when he was two after she was offered a job in Boston. His father died before he was born; his mother got remarried in USA and he’s got two younger stepbrothers.
Friends: Because his family moved around a lot when he was younger – and because of his rebellious nature – he didn’t have any close friends before meeting Fred (and Kate).

:: LEX O'LEARY ::

Born: December 7^th 1982 in New York City, New York. Twenty-two years old.
Ethnicity: Irish.
Appearance: Light brown hair; brown eyes; slender body; medium height.
Personality: Open-minded; good listener; tough; smart; less outgoing than before; more repressed and grim now than she used to be.
Destructive behavior: Her desperation to fit in somewhere causes her to go around in blinkers when it comes to relationships. Convinces herself she deserves what she gets.
Background: Has always had an amazing musical talent ever since she was a child. Grew up together with six friends who she still considers her best friends. They started a band together and were destined for great things in the music business but Lex ended up elsewhere after high school.
- Her parents work on Wall Street and make their share of money. Lex’s family is rather big; she’s got five siblings and used to live with her parents up until she turned nineteen. Her father used to abuse her during her teenage years and that’s directly related to some of her more destructive manners.
Friends: Not revealed what happened to them until later into the story.

:: PETER STANWOOD ::

Born: November 5^th 1979 in Canterbury, England.
Ethnicity: English
Appearance: Dark blond hair; blue eyes; rather tall and strong.
Personality: Lacks real compassion for other people; needs structure in his life; strict and decisive. Fears he’ll be discovered as the insecure fraud he really is. Wants to be successful and respected the same way his own father is.
Destructive behavior: Wants his life to be perfect and strives for a flawless existence – the perfect house, the perfect wife and the perfect job – and tries to get his fellow creatures to understand and live up to these expectations. Would go out of his way to get what he wants. His perception of life is skewed from his upbringing.
Background: His parents sent him to US to study; he stayed after earning his degree and got a job in New York. His father is the CEO of an engineering company back in London. His parents have an old-fashioned view of most things in life, which has passed on to him. He’s an only child.
Friends: None mentioned. He focuses on his work and mostly meets co-workers.

:: CATALINA LINTON ::

Born: October 28^th 1982 in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Dies the year she turns nineteen.
Ethnicity: Mexican
Appearance: Dark brown straight hair; eyes also dark brown; short; delicate body.
Personality: Rather mellow; bit of a mystery to most people; bad decision maker; shy and not very outgoing. Goes where Fred goes, does what Fred does and doesn’t really have an independent life of her own.
Destructive behavior: Pushes people away instead of talking things through.
Background: Divorced parents; two older brothers. Nothing before she met Fred is revealed.
Friends: Fred’s friends – never took any initiative to meet other people than them.
